2. Client Responsibilities

By engaging our services, you agree to:

  1. Provide complete, accurate, and timely information necessary for the preparation of your tax returns or other deliverables.
  2. Review all completed documents carefully before signing or authorizing e-filing.
  3. Retain copies of all tax returns and supporting documents for your records.
  4. Notify us promptly of any changes in your financial situation that may affect services in progress.

You are ultimately responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the information you provide. Practical Tax is not liable for errors, penalties, or interest resulting from incorrect, incomplete, or late information supplied by you.

3. Fees and Payment

  • Fees for services will be communicated prior to engagement and may vary based on the complexity of your return or project.
  • Payment is due upon completion of services unless otherwise agreed in writing.
  • We reserve the right to withhold filing or delivery of completed work until payment is received in full.
  • Returned payments or late balances may be subject to additional fees.

4. Accuracy and Professional Standards

Practical Tax prepares all returns and work product in accordance with applicable federal and state tax laws and IRS Circular 230 standards. We exercise reasonable professional care, but we do not guarantee specific outcomes such as refund amounts, audit immunity, or approval of tax positions.

5. Confidentiality

We treat all client information as confidential and handle it in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We will not disclose your personal or financial information to third parties except as required to perform our services, as authorized by you, or as required by law.

6. Electronic Filing and Signatures

By authorizing e-filing, you consent to the electronic transmission of your tax return to the IRS and/or applicable state agencies. Electronic signatures provided through our platform or in person carry the same legal weight as handwritten signatures.

7. Communication

We may communicate with you via email, phone, text message, or through our client portal. While we take precautions to protect communications, unencrypted email is not guaranteed to be secure. By providing your contact information, you consent to receiving service-related communications through these channels.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • Practical Tax’s total liability for any claim arising from our services is limited to the amount of fees you paid for the specific service giving rise to the claim.
  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to lost profits, penalties, or interest assessed by any tax authority.
  • We are not responsible for delays or errors caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including IRS processing delays, system outages, or natural disasters.

9. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these Terms or our services shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation. If a resolution cannot be reached, disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration in the State of Maryland, in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. Both parties waive the right to a jury trial.

10. Termination

Either party may terminate the service relationship at any time with written notice. Upon termination:

  • You are responsible for fees incurred for work already completed.
